About Us

Raffles Alumni Chinese Orchestra (RACO) comprises former members of Raffles Institution (Year 1-4) Chinese Orchestra (RICO), Raffles Girls' School (Secondary) Chinese Orchestra (RGSCO) and Raffles Institution (Year 5-6) Chinese Orchestra (RJCO). RACO was established in hopes of uniting members of these three orchestras to enjoy and perform Chinese music as friends, even when pursuing higher education, serving National Service, or working.

In 2009, 44 members came together to perform an alumni item at the RICO (Year 5-6) annual concert at Raffles Institution Performing Arts Centre. From this humble beginning, RACO has since held twelve successful, fully independently organised public concerts. RACO also had the honour of being invited by Esplanade to perform at its Waterfront Theatre and Concert Hall as part of the Beautiful Sunday concert series, as well as by INSEAD to perform at its Emerging Markets Conference Gala Dinner, and by Thong Chai Medical Institution to perform at its 125th Anniversary dinner, where the orchestra played the opening fanfare for former President Tony Tan Keng Yam. In 2018, RACO was invited to perform at Gardens by the Bay for their annual Mid-Autumn Festival celebration. In 2025, RACO was invited by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra to perform at Music Tapas, a pre-concert show open to the public. The success of these public concerts and performances has cemented RACO's status as a voice of musical excellence in the local Chinese music scene.

RACO is now an Interest Group registered under the Old Rafflesians’ Association (ORA).

莱佛士校友华乐团是由莱佛士书院华乐团、莱佛士女中华乐团以及莱佛士初级学院华乐团的历届校友组成。莱佛士校友华乐团建团的主要目的是希望能集合已毕业的华乐团成员，一起创造一个能让团员再次共同演奏的舞台。

在2009年莱佛士初级学院华乐团的年度音乐会中，44名校友组成的莱佛士校友华乐团首次亮相并演奏了一首曲目。从这平凡的开始至今，乐团已举办了十二场独立的音乐会。

乐团曾荣幸受邀请到滨海湾艺术中心举行的《美丽星期天》音乐会系列在户外舞台与音乐厅演出。乐团也曾受邀为欧洲工商管理学院(INSEAD) 的宴会演奏，以及在同济医院125周年晚会演奏了前总统陈庆炎的进场音乐。在2018年，本团受滨海湾花园的邀请为一年一度的中秋节演奏。乐团于2025年也受邀为新加坡华乐团音乐会前的 “音乐小品” 进行演出。多次演出和音乐会的成功让乐团成为了本地华乐乐坛里出类拔萃的声音之一。

莱佛士校友华乐团现隶属于莱佛士校友会。
